This 1956 Thunderbird was made to be a classic fun-in-the-sun driver, cruising with a smooth calmness. The owner came to us with some minor changes in mind and by the end of the conversation he wanted a full rotisserie restoration and color change paint job. The car had been restored by a previous owner, and when it was brought in, we were impressed by the overall appearance; however like the owner, we noticed some tell-tale indications that there were problems under the surface. We started the process by stripping everything off the car so that we could separate the body from the frame to soda blast them separately. We were in for a surprise as we began to blast the car. We uncovered significant metal and body work that needed to be completed in order to meet the customer’s demanding requirements. Once stripped, we called the owner to review the extent of work that we uncovered. After a discussion of what we thought the best course of action would be, the owner agreed and today we are approximately half way through the process.
